RSS

I set up an RSS for several different news and weather sites but I'm not sure if I did it correctly. Am I supposed to receive updates through email? If so I haven't received anything yet. I'm a tad confused.

Google

I enjoyed checking out "more" about Google. I took the video tour of Picasa and found out many neat things to do with photos. It comes highly recommended so I'll check that out in the future. I also like docs. It seems to be similar with Sharepoint but with a couple more cool features such as the ability to chat with others editing the document. When I have time I'll investigate more about that too.

Social Networking

I have a Facebook account but confess I only check in once in awhile and make a comment rarely. It's a great way to keep up with family and and friends though without having to pick up the phone.

I like wikipedia and spent quite a bit of time looking for an article I could edit but with not much success. I don't seem to know enough about any one topic, including my favourite mystery author and rock group, to contribute anything new to the articles I read. I didn't really find anything in terms of grammar to correct either. I did learn a lot by clicking on "about wikipedia" and felt I know a bit more about how it works.

Delicious

I really tried to like Delicious but I have to confess that I'm not warming up to it. I find the site confusing and difficult to use. I'm never sure if I should go to tags. tag bundles or go to the links on the left hand side of the page which seem to be listed in some random order which I have yet to figure out.

I did like the tag tab where you can choose a word and find information. I clicked on ebooks and found out about the new iPad which was quick and easy. This technique really doesn't look very professional though when you're helping customers and randomly clicking words sprawled across the screen.

I'm a Babyboomer and trying hard not to let my age or lack of experience stop me from learning new technology. As a matter of fact my greatest fear is getting left behind! I don't think I'm alone on this one!
